I seek your support and vote in becoming judge of the 187th Judicial District Court. Together we can make sure that justice is more than just a word, but the standard for our judicial system.
The 187th Judicial District Court hears felony criminal cases. I possess the educational and legal experience for this position. I hold the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, Master Degree in Business Administration, and Juris Doctor Degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law
In 1997, I opened my private practice, with a focus in criminal law. I have represented adult and juvenile defendants throughout my legal career. I have also represented children who were victims of child abuse and neglect. I tried several major profile cases as a criminal defense attorney. In 2015, I was honored to join the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. I am currently the first-chair prosecutor in the Special Crimes Unit. The Special Crimes Unit of the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office prosecutes child abuse and neglect cases and domestic violence cases.
I firmly believe that it takes a village to make sure our children are safe and that they become productive members of our community. Education is a key component in helping our children succeed. I have participated in reading, mentorship, and tutoring programs for our youth. I am a current board member of Youth Transitioning into Adulthood, a program designed to help foster youth who age out of the foster care system.
I believe that drug addiction is a major problem in our community. To combat this problem, I became one of the first attorneys in the Felony Drug Court Program and the Esperanza Court. The Felony Drug Court Program is designed to encourage and foster continued recovery to those addicted to controlled substances. The Esperanza Court is designed to help those who have been victims of sex-trafficking. These cost-saving programs help stop the revolving door of many criminal activities in our communities.
I firmly believe that we must give back to our community. As a former President of the San Antonio Black Lawyers Association, I have been a director of several continuing legal education courses for attorneys. I have also participated in numerous Wills Clinics to help those in need. To help citizens make informed decisions at the ballot box, I have organized numerous judicial candidate forums and mayoral forums to educate the public in the legal system.
In Bexar County, too many of our citizens are struggling through the cycle of addiction and too many of our children are victims of abuse and neglect. WE can make our community better. WE can make our community stronger. WE can make our community grow. WE can LET OUR CHILDREN BE CHILDREN.
JOIN ME IN IMPROVING OUR COMMUNITY. I humbly ask for YOUR SUPPORT and YOUR VOTE.
